Flexdict Editor's Review

Flexdict is a very simple application which can translate words. You can activate it very easily, with just a click. The application stays in the system tray, and waits until you press a certain key combination. By default, Flexidict is activated when you move the mouse over a word and press CTRL+right mouse click simultaneously.

After you install this program, it only has the English-English dictionary installed. However, it's very simple to add new dictionaries, by downloading them from the publisher's website. Beside being able to translate words, the application can also use special dictionaries like "Concise Wikipedia" (short version of English Wikipedia), "FOLDOC" (a dictionary of terms related to computing), "Moby Thesaurus", and so on.

Flexidict can use the Windows text-to-speech engine for playing back the words which you are searching for. Although this is not always useful, it's a nice extra feature.

Pluses: The size of the explanation text can be customized.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: This program can be a great companion, by helping whenever you need an explanation or a translation.
